Photo Privacy Checker

See whether a photo gives away where it was taken, your phone model or the date, then download a clean copy before you share it. Your photo never leaves your device.

Drop a photo here

JPEG, PNG, WebP or HEIC. It never leaves your device.

Stop it at the source

iPhone

When sharing, tap Options at the top and turn off Location. To stop saving it at all: Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › Camera › Never.

Android

Open the Camera app's settings and turn off location tags (the name varies by phone). In Google Photos sharing, you can also remove the location before sending.

Most social apps strip location when you post, but email, cloud links, marketplace listings and messaging apps that send the original file often keep it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a photo reveal my location?

Yes. Phones usually save GPS coordinates inside each photo, along with the date and phone model. Anyone who gets the original file can read them, often to within a few metres.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The photo is read and cleaned entirely in your browser. It never leaves your device.

How does removing the metadata work?

The tool redraws just the picture onto a blank canvas and saves that as a new file. Location, camera details, dates and editing history are all left behind. We then re-check the new file to confirm it's clean.

Do Instagram, Facebook or WhatsApp remove photo location?

Most big social apps strip location data when you post. Email, cloud-drive links, marketplace listings and apps or modes that send the original file often keep it, so it's worth cleaning photos before sharing them that way.
